Meet Our Teachers

Miss Jo Rogers

“Hi, my name is Miss Jo and I run J.A.M Dance Academy, formerly known as Hollis School of Dance and Drama. The school was originally opened in 19 by Marylin Rogers (my mother). After nearly years I made the decision to change the name and make it my own.

I started dancing at 2.5 years old at a local dance school called Glendale where my training made me the dancer I am today. Having taken most exams in ISTD for Ballet, Modern and Tap, I competed in many festivals and shows through 16 years of being there. At 18 years of age, I went to the late Deborah Capon Dance College where I became the teacher I am today. I spent 3 years here taking exams and performing.

My performing career stated at the age of 21, working for Disneyland Paris, BBC TellTale Productions and Alton Towers. After 6 years I decided to start my teaching career. I took over the running of Hollis and also worked for Worthing High School teaching GCSE Dance. My current qualifications are AS & A Level Dance, Btech Performing Arts, ISTD & BTDA Dance Teacher qualifications.

Since running my own dance school, I have never looked back. I personally find it so rewarding and wake up every morning truly loving the job I do.”
